Program Overview
Are you looking for one of the most inspiring, challenging and rewarding experiences for your son or daughter this summer? Would you like them to experience some of the most beautiful natural environments in Australia. And, to learn so much about themselves, leadership, independence, resilience and working with others? The young leaders who joined us on previous expedition leadership camps keep telling is that it was one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences of their life. So we would love your son or daughter to join us - this leadership expedition style camp has it all.
The young leaders who take on this challenge will help plan and lead 8/9-day expedition from Canberra to the highest mountain in Australia, Mt Kosciuszko - then onto Melbourne. The expedition will include a 4 day bushwalk and bush camping in the Kosciuszko National Park area, venturing to the top of highest mountain in Australia, Mt Kosciuszko.
Transport: The group will travel use a variety of transport options depending on the terrain and the specific route the group decides to take. We will walk; we will also use public bus and train transport for periods of the journey.
Other requirements: Participants will need a moderate to high level of independence and physical fitness for this expedition. Participants will have to be self-sufficient for 8/9 days and carry their personal equipment, clothing and food in a hiking backpack (there is a food re-supply on Day 4/5).
Pre & Post Trip Travel Days: Pre: 5 Jan (Melbourne- Canberra) or Post: 14 January (Melbourne-Canberra)
Cost (9 days): $875
Personal Budget: Each participant will have to also need a personal budget of $120-200 for personal food and transport
Registrations: Registrations are open and places are limited. To confirm your place please send an email to info@wels.com.au and submit your deposit of 50% of program cost or pay the the full amount.
